Sailing hand steering for 7 days in winds of 6-7 seemed imprudent. 2 years of planning down the toilet! Oh well the main thing is all are safe and well. Fair winds to the remaining competitors. See you in 4 weeks time. Outrageous out.

romping along, phosphorescence in our wake, at up to 8.5 knots. Overtook 5 or 6
boats an we were top of the world. Had a visit from Percy the racing pigeon:
actually I think it was the bringer of doom as first it peed it down with
rain and then the autopilot ceased to function. Hove too, took down sails,
couldn't se anything wrong with pilot.

Crisis what crisis

Fortunately Freddie, my 20-year old son, who has sailed with me many times is inbetween jobs and has committed to spend a month on Outrageous alone with me! Poor guy. Thanks Fred!!! You are a star!
New Gennaker

0.9oz 175m gennaker for the first time off Newhaven on delivery trip.
Ended up with massive broach, had to dump the halyard and sail over side.
Then spent 60 minutes recovering it as a 16m snuffer makes a truly wonderful
drogue!

Submitted by Mark Stevenson on Thu, 19/05/2011 - 20:55Sailed down to Falmouth in Force 5 on the nose all the way. Hope it is not a sign of things to come! Outrageous now on a swinging mooring.
