Cantilena was the second of the now long series of Judel/Vrolijk designed Najad 380s to be built at the Swedish yard of Najadvarvet AB. She was the first of her type to be sold in UK and having been on show at the 2004 Southampton Boat Show was reviewed by James Jermain in Yachting Monthly in an article entitled "A Swede with speed." She is a centre cockpit cruising design. Having owned her since new, I have put some 10,000 miles on the clock which includes both legs of AZAB 2007 singlehanded. She carries a typically limited cruiser's sail wardrobe for her sloop rig and has an inner forestay for the storm jib and a track fitted for the trysail. Self steering comes courtesy of a Raymarine ST6000 system backed up by a transom-mounted Hydrovane unit. A standard array of electronic instruments is networked with a dedicated marinised PC via a multiplexer. Maxsea navigation software is used. Electrical power is provided by a Paguro Compact 3000 diesel generator.
